Maphead - Transmedia Live Art Band

Maphead is a Transmedia Live Art Band, formed in Poland in July 1995 by artist Nick Rilke and musician Tony Rimbaud.

The boys on the beach

Drawing from such diverse elements as text, performance, music, visuals, film, radio and DJing, Maphead aims to present a variety of subject matter in challenging and thought-provoking
ways; exploring areas from the personal to the political, the diverting to the demonstrative.

Collaborating extensively with other artists such as painters, photographers and musicians,
Maphead create work as broad-ranging as the media they use, in their continuing exploration of human geography. Maphead’s work is characterised by being improvisational and interactive, with a wittily and often darkly conceptual take on turn of the century existence.

Nick and Tony are currently concentrating on the musical project Malevich, as part of the live electronica night The Spirit of Gravity.
