It was during his stay in Warsaw that he co-founded Maphead with Tony Rimbaud.

Born into a free-love community in Sussex in 1959, Rilke was from a young age revealed to be a child prodigy. This artistic genius was brought to the public's attention by a series of collaborative 'Happenings' with Joseph Beuys, whilst still only in his mid-teens. Moving to Cologne in the late seventies, he embarked on a world tour of "Grand Gestures": performances with the express aim of affecting global politics. This culminated in the notorious "Almost Assassination (Reagan)" piece of 1981 with maverick outsider artist John W. Hinckley. Subsequently forced into hiding and eventual retirement, Rilke donated his artistic identity and name to the co-founder of Maphead in 1995.

Born in absentia, Rilke trained at the University of the Absurd, gaining an upper class accent in Dyslexic Dusties. After an unsuccessful attempt at being a failure in the mid to late earlies, Rilke became a mime artist and contortionist. He subsequently made a complete arse of himself at numerous festivals throughout the known world, most notably at the one that was cancelled. It was during his misheard long stay at Loch Spey that, with Tony Rimbaud, he formed Maphead out of stolen stationery items and an old dentist found in a copy of Punch. Has since retired in the distant future.
