Maphead Productions Present:
The Spirit of Gravity

The Spirit of Gravity: a night
of live electronic / experimental music
A collision of technology and live performance, The Spirit of Gravity
brings together the finest exponents of electronic and experimental music from
Brighton and the South East to create a wealth of innovative sounds. Both digital
and analogue, featuring text, decks and live instrumentation as well as samples
and synthesised sound, The Spirit of Gravity involves the most ground-breaking
artists from Brighton's expanding electronic music scene.
The Spirit of Gravity featured for a year as a regular monthly slot at the Lift Club in Brighton, featuring the finest exponents of Brighton's electronic / experimental scene, including Multiplex, Waxed Apple, Minimal Impact, The Vader Sound System, Keykeeper+Tempos and Clarence Palmer. The Spirit of Gravity also featured Maphead Productions' own musical manifestation, Malevich. In January 2002, it was re-launched at the Free Butt, with the well-established musical output being enhanced by the new possibilities of video projection.
The re-launch led to regular events at the Free Butt, featuring Malevich, Multiplex, Remote, Minimal Impact, Audio Restoration, Waxed Apple and FlyByWire. The culmination of this series of events was the extremely successful all-day electronic music festival during the Brighton Festival in May 2002, featuring all the regular acts, plus Pilote, DJ Cheesemaster playing the work of Raymond Scott, and a video presentation from Scanner.
The Spirit of Gravity continues as a regular monthly night at the Free Butt - for details see www.spiritofgravity.com. For recordings of some of the main acts featured at The Spirit of Gravity, see The Sounds of The Spirit of Gravity.
The Spirit of Gravity are looking for electronic / experimental musicians and groups to perform at the regular monthly nights. If you are interested, please contact us on info@spiritofgravity.com
