Maphead Productions Present: Waiting for Inspiration

"Witness the agony and ecstasy of two poets as they struggle to unite with their muse, and write a novel in one day. An interactive piece is written, involving ideas, plots and characters suggested by the reading public, culminating in a reading later in the evening."

A regular event at Brighton's annual International Festival, 'Waiting for Inspiration' is an interactive performance based in a bookshop, until now Borders Bookshop in Churchill Square, Brighton. Messrs. Rilke and Rimbaud write a novel in one day, based on the ideas and suggestions given to them by the bookshop customers. The authors themselves provide little in the way of plot or character descriptions, merely fleshing out the creative input of the general public.

The novel is typed in the bookshop itself as the text was created, and therefore the typing mistakes and corrections reflect the spontaneous nature of the exercise; these mistakes and corrections are reproduced as far as possible in the extracts as they appear through the links below.
